My Experiences from Begining to End

This Semester, I had the experience of learning new things such as writing good papers. Even though i still have to master what it takes to write a good paper, i can say for sure that i am able to write a decent paper. Enough so that my work is good but needs more work. I still have difficulty applying all the requirements enough to make my paper look good. Also, i love the blogging assignments we have had this semester and the few projects we did. I did however, HATE writing papers on The Omnivore's Dilemma. That is one book i hope never to read again. I also hated having to read it over and over again for specific information. In truth, i don't think i would be giving anyone advice about taking EN001. Because of my experience in the class, i don't think i have that much to say on the subject yet, i will tell someone about to take this class to just be patient and do all their work. I wish someone had told me that i could do whatever it took to pass the class and that i am smart enough to pass the class without letting frustration override my judgement.

Portfolio Choices

I will choose my very first essay and my fourth essay because they will demonstrate my strength level when i first started and then show how i have progressed from that in the fourth essay. The first essay will show how my mentality at the beginning of the semester and how much i lacked in my paper. The fourth essay on the other hand, will show how strong my writing is and how much i have learned so far. It will also show how much work i still need to do.

College Life

I don't know if i would call my first semester in college a blessing but i know it has changed me a lot. From the way i speak to the way i write. I have noticed a dramatic changed in how i think too. I don't rush to give out answers anymore, I make sure i think things through before i say them. I write with more knowledge on how to write paragraphs and essays and so on. To me, that is the biggest chanllenge of all. Writing will always be a learning process to me because i have a difficult time with it. On the other  hand, college has chnaged the way i view things. I don't do things like a high schooler anymore. It's more adult based.

My writing: Begining, Now and the Future

God, how far I've come. I didn't think i would be writing the way i am right now. Looking back on my first post, i don't think i was writing with as much sentence structure or writing organized thoughts. It was more free writing than anything.  My plans for this class were to learn how to write better in every sense of the word and to be able to write with organized thoughts especially in essays. Now, i can do all that and more. My essay have more depth to them and less mistakes. I don't have a lot of grammar errors like i used to. I am very close to reaching my goals. Actually, i think I've met most of them. My strengths haven't changed, but my weaknesses have...a lot. I can now say, i am able to write like a college student. My high school writing years are behind me. The next five weeks of the semester, i know, will be gruelling but that's the chance I'm willing to take in order to write better than i do right now. I will revise my papers, talk to tutors and my teacher to help detect any problems i could straighten in my work. I will learn to use outlines more often to organize my thoughts on paper and also proofread. That's one thing i hate doing but i will do so for my portfolio.

My Writing Process

To begin writing my paper, i jut down some ideas and main points. I then go on to turn those ideas to a full blown outline. After writing the outline, i start writing a the rough draft to kind of see how my paper will turn out. Once that's done, i revise the draft to make sure i have made all my points and that my ideas are well thought out. When i'm finished with the rough draft, i then start to write the revised draft which will be more polished than the first one. I make sure that i have enough details to support my paper and that my grammar is on point. I also try to make sure i have revised all my errors in order to avoid overexagerated sentences. Finally, i reread the entire paper for any mistakes.

Food Inc., Reality Check!!!

I don't ever want to watch that movie again. Grossed me out. The way animals were sluttered and how fast that process was just made me want to stop eating meat for a WHILE. The bacteria that could be in my body from the meat that i consume every day or so and the anti-body things that were stuffed into the animals as food was plain old CRAZY. I didn't want to ever eat meat again if i could help it. This movie made me have a reality check. I thought of all the times i ate McDonald's and didn't even seat to think of how unhealthy the meat was or how it was processed. I thought about all the bacteria that i could be carrying in my stomach and i just had to stop. No more McDonald's for me for a LONG time. Now, I watch everything i eat. I read the ingredients used to make the food and i read the labels. I also make sure to eat as little of everything if it has something unhealthy inside just in case. I don't even drink soda anymore because of the unhealthy corn syrup and "other" things inside.

My Morning Ritual

Early every morning, i start off by brushing my teeth. Secondly i take a shower or sometimes, i eat before taking a shower just so i wouldn't have to run out of the house without eating(Gives me nausea on the bus if i don't eat). Thirdly, go on to dress up. I usually pick out my clothes the night before to give me time to do other things in the morning such as; Revising any work i need to, finish homework i haven't finished or just relax and "catch-up"(meaning listen to music or in my case read a book). Fourthly, i give my best friend a call to see if she is ready so that i could walk to the bus stop and wait for her. While on my way out, i tell my dad I'm leaving(I only do this to please him; If it were left up to me, i wouldn't do it. But hey at least i get money for doing that!). Then, i walk down to the bus stop to wait for my friend. Finally, we catch for the Bus 20 to school while munching on rice krispies for an added bonus from her mom who just loves to remind us to have extra snacks...just in case.
